Two men charged over Burnie burglaries

Two men have been charged with multiple burglary, stealing and fraud offences following two separate incidents at a Burnie education facility.

TWO men from Upper Burnie have been charged with multiple burglary, stealing and fraud offences following two separate incidents at a Burnie education facility.

Various items of property including musical instruments, computers, cash, a credit card and students’ personal belongings were stolen from the Mirabeena Multicap building in late April.

The stolen credit card allegedly was used to make various unauthorised online purchases.

Burnie CIB Detectives executed multiple search warrants in the Upper Burnie area on Tuesday.

A 39-year-old man was charged with multiple burglary, stealing and fraud offences, and a 22-year-old man was charged with burglary, stealing and firearms offences.

Both men were also charged with failing to comply with a direction of the Director of Public Health.

They were both bailed to appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court on August 11.

The stolen property is yet to be recovered.
