A 16-year-old girl has been arrested after a unit was “fully engulfed” in a blaze breaking out in Tasmania’s North West early on Sunday morning.

A 16-year-old girl has been arrested after a unit was “fully engulfed” in a blaze breaking out in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Tasmania Police said Tasmania Fire Service crews from Devonport and Latrobe were called to the scene at 5am to evacuate neighbouring units and contain the flames.

Police arrested the teenager during their investigation at the Wright St property in East Devonport.
Their investigations are ongoing.
Police have confirmed no one was home at the time of the fire.
Damage caused to the unit has been estimated at $180,000.
