A Tasmanian police officer is facing drug and stealing charges following an internal investigation.
Police Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard said a 33-year-old male constable from the state’s South was on Wednesday charged with possessing and using a controlled drug and stealing.
Mr Tilyard said the constable had been suspended from duty on full pay.
The charges arose as a result of an internal police investigation, Mr Tilyard said.
He said it “would be not appropriate” to make any further comment given the matter was now before the court.
The constable is due to face the Hobart Magistrates court in November.
