Tasmania Police is investigating a robbery, which saw a man’s phone stolen while he was out for a run.

Five-hour Melbourne siege ends with an unusual twist

A MAN out for an evening run was dragged to the ground and robbed by two men in the state’s north.

About 7.50pm on Friday, the 28-year-old man was running west on Esprey Street, Mowbray when two tall men grabbed him.

They took a mobile phone from a zipped pocked in the man’s jacket and fled on foot.

The man received minor facial injuries but did not require medical treatment.

Tasmania Police is investigating the incident, and urge anyone who may have seen the two men in the area at the time or who may have CCTV covering Esprey Street or Invermay Road to get in touch with Northern CIB or provide information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperstas.com.au.

A 28-year-old Launceston man was charged with armed robbery and attempted robbery after two separate incidents of handbag snatching in Devonport on July 3.

He was also charged with evading police and unlicensed driving in the Launceston area, and was detained in custody.

Another man, aged 23 of Ulverstone, was charged with armed robbery and evading police and was bailed to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court in September.

A 16-year-old boy and 35-year-old woman, both of Glenorchy, were also charged with the attempted aggravated armed robbery of the Caltex Service Station at Moonah.
