Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service were called to the property shortly before 9pm yesterday, after a neighbour heard a smoke alarm sounding.
Arriving to find the structure well alight, crews were able to contain the fire to the front of the unit with significant smoke damage occurring to the living room and kitchen areas.
Fire investigators determined the fire was deliberately lit.
About 7am today, police and fire crews were called to a second fire at the property after neighbours again raised the alarm.
