Rhonda Ruth O’Sign pleads not guilty to raft of fraud charges from Little Athletics investigation

A LOW Head woman has pleaded not guilty to a raft of charges in relation to alleged misappropriation of funds from not-for-profit sporting body Little Athletics Tasmania.

In the Hobart Magistrates Court before Magistrate Glenn Hay, Rhonda Ruth O’Sign, 60, of Low Head pleaded not guilty to 41 counts of fraud, three counts of fraud as a clerk and two counts of cheating.

In September, Tasmania Police confirmed to the Sunday Tasmanian a series of charges had been laid against the former volunteer following an investigation into allegations about $30,000 being defrauded from Little Athletics Tasmania.

A spokeswoman at the time said the amounts in relation to Ms O’Sign’s charges amounted to approximately $11,500.

Little Athletics Tasmania first started in the state in 1973 in Launceston.

It caters for children aged from 3 to 15 years of age.

Ms O’Sign was committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court of Tasmania and she was bailed to appear for a directions hearing on February 1.
