Police have arrested two women after searching their homes for stolen hand sanitiser.

TWO Devonport women, aged 30 and 34 have been arrested after six bottles of hand sanitiser were stolen from Mersey Community Hospital at Latrobe.

Police conducted searches at their respective homes and all hand sanitiser has been recovered.

Both women have been bailed to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court on July 28.

Police noted the community’s overwhelming support in identifying the two women.

POLICE are hunting for two women they say stole six bottles of hand sanitiser from the Mersey Community Hospital at Latrobe.

Police said the women were allegedly seen leaving the hospital with the bottles about 7pm on Wednesday.

“A review of CCTV from the hospital shows two women exiting the hospital through the rear doors near Accident and Emergency with bottles of hand sanitiser,” said Inspector Robert Gunton of Burnie CIB.

“It’s incredibly disappointing, especially during this time of emergency, that someone would steal sanitiser from a hospital and the people that provide vital medical services to our community.”

A police investigation at the hospital determined six bottles of hand sanitiser had been stolen.

Anyone who saw two brown-haired women in the hospital about 7pm on Wednesday, one wearing a pink jumper and the other a grey jumper, is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
