Neville Perryman and Lisa Ann Perryman to stand trial for wounding and assault charges over alleged chainsaw attack at Middleton

A MIDDLETON couple will face trial in the Supreme Court of Tasmania in July over an alleged chainsaw attack.

Neville Perryman, 56, and Lisa Ann Perryman, 53, appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Tuesday, each charged with wounding, assault, common assault and being the owner of a dog that attacks a person.

According to court documents, police allege the Perrymans wounded Horace Reginald Peter Monshing by cutting his left forearm and right hand with a chainsaw on November 17 last year.

The Mercury previously reported a 59-year-old man was rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital with significant wounds to his arm, reportedly in a serious condition.

They are also jointly charged with unlawfully assaulting Anne Sturrock Monshing by moving towards her while holding an operating chainsaw in a threatening manner, causing her to believe she would be assaulted.

Both accused entered pleas of not guilty to the wounding and assault charges on Tuesday before Magistrate Robert Webster.

Mr and Mrs Perryman, according to the court documents, are also alleged to have committed common assault by punching Mr Monshing to the face.

They are finally jointly charged with being owners of a dog that attacks a person by owning a blue heeler cross dog that attacked Mr Monshing.

The pair are yet to enter pleas to these two charges.

Mrs Perryman also faces the additional charge of driving while exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit after she was allegedly caught driving in her neighbourhood on the same date with a breath reading of 0.144. She is yet to enter a plea.

The Perrymans were committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court for the wounding and assault charges and were bailed to appear on July 19.
