A WELL-known make-up artist who defrauded her former employer of $65,000 has briefly faced Tasmania’s top judge ahead of her battle against imprisonment.
Earlier this month, Olivia Rose Rodgers was given a nine-month jail sentence – albeit with seven months suspended – and fined more than $1300 after pleading guilty to 62 counts of dishonestly acquiring a financial advantage from health insurance company Bupa.
She immediately flagged she would appeal the sentence.
With her bail extended, Rodgers has not yet spent a day behind bars for her crimes.
On Monday, the 32-year-old appeared before Supreme Court Chief Justice Alan Blow.
Rodgers’ lawyer Fabiano Cangelosi asked for an adjournment while awaiting a transcript of the sentencing hearing from the Hobart Magistrates Court.
Rodgers will return to court on August 6.
