If a brief appearance in the Burnie Magistrates Court on Monday morning, Geoffrey James Deverell, Kelsey Maree Ford, her brother Lucas Shane Ford, Michael William Hanlon and Cody Christopher Shane Sheehan did not enter a plea to the charge.

Police say Mr Medcraft died in the North West Regional Hospital after being allegedly attacked by the group at a property in Ritchie Ave, Burnie, about 3am on Sunday.

Mr Medcraft’s aunty Andrea Triffitt has started a GoFundMe page to raise money for his funeral and to support his partner and young son.

“He will be forever missed by all who loved and knew him,” the page reads.

The five people, all from Burnie, charged will reappear in the Burnie Magistrates Court on April 7.
