POLICE are investigating after a car was torched on an inner-city Hobart street.

The incident, which happened on Jennings St, New Town, was reported around 7.30am.

A spokesperson for Tasmania Police said the fire was deliberately lit, and have appealed for public assistance.

The black Toyota Camry was destroyed by the fire.
