A TEENAGE boy accused of stabbing a Taroona man to death outside a Blackmans Bay service station won’t return to court until February next year.

The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in the Supreme Court of Tasmania on Thursday via video link from the Ashley Youth Detention Centre.

Reid Ludwig was returning a trailer to a Coles Express petrol station on November 24, 2019, when he was allegedly fatally stabbed in front of his family during an altercation.

On Thursday, Crown prosecutor Madeleine Wilson said she was still awaiting a specialist report before the case could proceed.

She asked for the matter to be adjourned for two months so she’d have time to obtain the report and discuss a way forward with the Director of Public Prosecutions.

She also asked that any further administrative court hearings next year be held after 4pm, because Mr Ludwig’s partner would be working full time as a teacher.

Mr Ludwig died in the Royal Hobart Hospital last year after the alleged attack.

The boy, now 16, was arrested at the scene and later pleaded not guilty to one count of murder.

Justice Helen Wood remanded the boy in custody to reappear on February 15.
