AN ALLEGED quarantine dodger accused of sneaking out of a hotel window is behind bars after his bid for bail was refused.
According to a police statement, Trent Reeve, 36, arrived in Hobart from Queensland on Monday and was directed to quarantine in a hotel for 14 days.
But police allege Mr Reeve snuck out through a window late at night, with CCTV footage showing him buying food from a nearby outlet.
“There is no evidence that any members of the community were put at risk during the
breach,” the statement read.
The man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with a lawful requirement or direction of an emergency management worker.
He appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court via video link on Tuesday from the Hobart Remand Centre, wearing a face mask and blue plastic gloves.
Magistrate Jackie Hartnett refused the man bail, remanding him in custody until September 3.
