A WOMAN who returned to Tasmania from Victoria has been charged after allegedly breaching quarantine requirements.
Police said a 59-year-old Penguin woman has been charged with failing to comply with the lawful requirement of direction of an emergency management worker following two incidents in Launceston on Thursday.
The woman, a Spirit of Tasmania passenger, returned to Tasmania on Thursday after travelling in Victoria.
She was transported to Launceston by bus where she allegedly “caused a number of
issues” before being placed into mandatory quarantine at Launceston’s Best Western Hotel.
Police were called to the Best Western Hotel around 11am after the woman
allegedly became abusive and aggressive and was refusing to stay in her room.
Police were again called to the hotel at 2pm when the woman allegedly refused to stay in her room once again.
Police allege she was throwing food and was being disruptive.
She was detained by police to appear in court on Thursday night.
