A former Tasmanian cruise operator has faced court in Burnie charged with assault and strangulation.
Troy Grining, of Strahan, who was former involved in the family-owned business World Heritage Cruises entered a plea of not guilty to the charges in the Burnie Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Mr Grining, 52, has been in custody on remand since he allegedly committed the offences earlier this year, and appeared in court via video link.
His lawyer indicated Mr Grining intended to apply for bail and said she would be filing a written application.
Magistrate Leanne Topfer said Mr Grining had been charged with very serious matters.
“Bail was refused last time,” she said before indicating Mr Grining could still apply again.
The case was adjourned until November 30 for a preliminary proceedings application.
