Two rock climbers rescued after becoming stranded at Cape Hauy

Climbers saved from Cape Huay ledge

Two rock climbers were rescued last night after finding themselves stranded on a cliff ledge approximately 250 metres from the top of Cape Hauy.

The two men found themselves stranded after one of them fell about 15 metres while climbing, sustaining extensive injuries.

The climbers sheltered in place above the roaring ocean, awaiting rescue teams to lift them to safety.

Search and Rescue members and paramedics flew to the ledge via Westpac Rescue Helicopter and winched themselves down to help the stranded climbers.

The two men were airlifted to Royal Hobart Hospital, where the injured man was treated for his wounds. The other man was uninjured.
