Bizarre road rules that carry big fines

A truck driver has died after a serious rollover on a regional Tasmanian road this morning.

Emergency services were called to Semmens Rd, St Marys just before 8.30am after reports of a serious truck rollover.

A truck rolled at the site and completely blocked the road, with the male driver trapped inside the vehicle.

Tasmania Police confirmed just before midday the driver, a male, had died.

Semmens Rd remains blocked and motorists travelling between St Marys and St Helens are advised to use Elephant Pass Rd.

“A crash investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the crash, and a report will be prepared for the coroner,” Tasmania Police said in a statement.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones of the man involved.”
