A TEENAGE boy has admitted to raping his girlfriend after viciously beating her with a stick and breaking bones in her foot.
The boy, then 15, cannot be named as he was underage at the time, raped the girl at his nan’s Bridgewater home in July last year.
After bashing the girl with a stick wrapped in duct tape, the boy told his nan: “if you tell anyone, I’ll slit your throat, you old bag”.
On Wednesday, the boy pleaded guilty to rape in the Supreme Court of Tasmania before Justice Michael Brett.
Crown prosecutor Lisa Pennington said the boy had previously attacked his mother and nan on several occasions, and was restrained from entering their homes under Police Family Violence Orders.
However, he was at his nan’s home on the day in question and flew into a jealous rage – hitting his girlfriend with a stick until she screamed and curled up into a ball.
Ms Pennington said prior to the rape, their relationship had been volatile – and the boy could be kind, but he could also be aggressive, violent and erratic.
Before the rape, the girl spent the night with friends – with the boy becoming “extremely jealous”.
She woke the next morning to find he’d tried to call her 149 times.
At his nan’s house, the boy hit the girl and kicked her face, causing her to fall backwards, then telling her to stop crying.
He accused the girl of cheating on him, then retrieved the weapon and beat her with it repeatedly.
The older woman told the boy to stop the attack, and he responded: “you know first aid nan, help her nan”.
He then demanded both of their mobile phones.
Following the attack, the girl slept on a mattress in the lounge room and told the boy to sleep on the couch.
Eventually she allowed him to sleep on the mattress with her, but said “don’t f … ing do anything”.
But the boy raped her as she continued to say “no”, asking him repeatedly to stop.
He said: “I just wanted you to have it one last time so you remember”, Ms Pennington said.
The following day, the girl attended the Royal Hobart Hospital, where it was discovered she had broken foot bones.
She was put in a half cast and was required to use crutches.
The court heard while the boy was locked up at the Ashley Youth Detention Centre later that year for other matters, an employee heard him on the phone to the girl, Ms Pennington continued.
“You f … ing listen to what I say, just shut up. Go to the cop shop tomorrow and drop the charges you have against me,” he said.
“If you don’t do it, I’m going to find you.”
The boy will return to court on December 14.
