A NORTH-West man has faced court more than three years after a pedestrian was allegedly hit by a truck at Sandy Bay.
Adam Wayne Lancaster-Barrett, 37, appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Friday, charged with causing grievous bodily harm to another person by negligent driving, dating back to June 13, 2019.
He has not yet entered a plea to the charge.
The Port Sorell resident has also pleaded not guilty to one count of suppressing evidence.
Magistrate Chris Webster was told it was Mr Lancaster-Barrett’s first court appearance over the matter, with the case remitted from the Burnie Magistrates Court.
The Mercury previously reported that a 68-year-old Blackmans Bay resident was allegedly struck by a white Kenworth Prime Mover about 6.55pm on the night in question.
Tasmania Police said the pedestrian was crossing at the intersection of Sandy Bay Road and Russell Crescent when he was struck.
The man was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with serious leg injuries while the truck driver was uninjured.
On Friday, Mr Lancaster-Barrett said he was “trying to get the funds together” to get a lawyer.
He will return to court on December 5.
