PUBLIC debt from fines has increased with almost debtors from around the nation owing Tasmania over $11.3m.
The latest report, dated March 4, 2022 sees the state owed $11.3 million from 4608 public debtors.

- Locals owe the state: $7,270,760.67
- West Australians owe Tasmania: $229,282.69
- Victorians owe Tasmania: $1,076,614.75
- South Australians owe Tasmania: $73,542.32
- Queenslanders owe Tasmania: $718,611.85
- Northern Territorians owe Tasmania: $17,612.01
- New South Welshmen owe Tasmania: $650,295.89
- Debtors from the ACT owe Tasmania: $5282.66
- … and others with no address states owe Tasmania: $1,286,565.65
The highest debtor to the state, David Wei Meng Lee, owes $1,226,060 to the public purse for black market abalone trading.
