The mum of missing Burnie teenager Shyanne-Lee Tatnell has tearfully told the Mercury “I need her home and the family needs her home” as search efforts to find the 14-year-old stretch past a fortnight.

Shyanne was last seen crossing the North Esk River bridge at Launceston on Sunday, April 30 between 8.34 and 8.40pm. She has not made any banking transactions or used social media since her disappearance.

Shyanne’s mother Bobbi-Lee Ketchell said police were working around the clock and commended them for going “above and beyond” to find her daughter.

“They are working 24/7 to find Shyanne and have gone above and beyond to do everything they can, particularly during last week’s search of the North Esk River,” Ms Ketchell said.

Ms Ketchell also expressed she was “extremely grateful” for the community volunteers undertaking search efforts.

It comes as police retrieved a number of mobile phones from the North Esk River at the tail-end of a week-long intensive search last Thursday.

Tasmania Police Inspector Craig Fox told media last week one of the phones could belong to the missing teen, given further forensic testing. But Ms Ketchell said police had told her the phones were not linked.

Later on Tuesday, police confirmed the results of the testing and said the found phones were not connected to Shyanne.

Ms Ketchell said a Facebook page had been set up called ‘Bringing Shyanne Home’, but due to “negative comments” the page’s admin has been contacted to shut it down.

Ms Ketchell asks that people unfollow the page until it has been removed.

Police said they would be continuing their search efforts this week, and reminded members of the public to come forward with any information that could help with the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding Shyanne can contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Tasmania – information can be provided anonymously.

She is described as being approximately 160cm tall, slim build with blonde hair.

At the time she was last seen, she was wearing a cream coloured hooded jumper with dark coloured writing on the chest and shoulder area. She was also wearing bike shorts, police say.
