A woman has been found guilty of attacking her neighbour after her husband took to him with an operating chainsaw.

Lisa Anne Perryman, 56, was jointly charged with her husband Neville Perryman over the attack at Middleton in November 2020.

They both pleaded not guilty to two counts of committing an unlawful act intended to cause bodily harm, by striking their neighbour Horace Reginald Peter Monshing with an operating chainsaw, with intention to maim, disfigure, disable or cause grievous bodily harm – as well as a count of assault.

Perryman stood trial alone in the Supreme Court of Tasmania last week after Mr Perryman died in July 2022.

After deliberating for several hours, a jury returned a verdict on Monday afternoon that Perryman – who did not wield the chainsaw herself – was guilty of all three charges.

The court previously heard the Perrymans had attacked Mr Monshing after a dispute over the Perrymans’ dog.

The court was told Mr Perryman punched Mr Monshing and wielded the chainsaw against him, cutting his arm and exposing the bone of his finger, while Lisa Perryman “abetted and encouraged” him, or formed a common purpose with her husband to commit the attack.

Perryman will be sentenced on July 5.
