Man in 60s faces court over historic Hobart child sexual abuse charges
A 68-year-old former teacher has faced a Hobart court over a raft of child sexual abuse charges.

A MAN in his 60s has faced a Hobart court charged with a number of historical child sexual abuse offences dating as far back as the 1970s.
Keith Athol Bates-Willie, 68, now lives in Deer Park, Victoria, but briefly appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Thursday.
It is understood Mr Bates-Willie was formerly a Hobart teacher with connections to Tasmania’s theatre scene.
He has been charged with 10 charges of indecent assault against three males in Hobart and Tasmania between 1977 and 1990.
Mr Bates-Willie also faces one charge of persistent sexual abuse of a child or young person in Hobart between January and December, 1979.
According to court documents, Mr Bates-Willie has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
On Thursday, Magistrate Chris Webster heard Mr Bates-Willie’s lawyer was seeking an adjournment to obtain further materials from prosecutors.
Mr Bates-Willie, who is on bail, will return to court on August 25.
