A Tasmanian criminal who recently served a seven-month prison sentence for a string of aggravated burglaries faces another stint in the clink after she was extradited to Queensland.

Burnie woman Latisha (aka Lateisha) Bramich, 39, appeared in Launceston Magistrates Court on Friday where the application to extradite her to Queensland was approved.

She was escorted from Launceston Reception Prison by two Queensland detectives to Launceston Airport, where she boarded a 1.50pm flight to Brisbane, where she would then ultimately be transported to the Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre.

The court heard she was wanted in the sunshine state on a “parole warrant”.

A Queensland-based source told the Mercury Bramich had about 12 months to serve on an existing sentence.

The source said Bramich was released on parole for a number of property offences but subsequently breached it twice, first by leaving Queensland without permission, then by committing further offences in Tasmania.

Bramich’s return to custody comes after she recently served a seven-month sentence in Tasmania after pleading guilty in January in Burnie Magistrates Court to 22 counts of stealing and seven of aggravated burglary.

Burnie Magistrate Leanne Topfer previously heard Bramich would often be so intoxicated by alcohol and illicit drugs she would not remember stealing items.

While most of Bramich’s thefts were petty – like a wind-chime from a person’s garden – she did steal a safe containing $9000 worth of property.

Over an almost two year crime spree she stole about $20,000 worth of goods including alcohol, money, food and clothes, the court previously heard.

Her seven-month sentence was backdated to September last year, when she was remanded in pre-sentence custody.

It is not known whether Bramich was out in the community between the expiry of her sentence in April and Friday’s extradition.
