THE son of notorious standover man Mark “Chopper” Read has briefly returned to court over dozens of charges related to guns, drugs and stealing.
Charles Vincent Read, 23, appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court via video link on Wednesday, facing a raft of 30 charges.
His list of alleged offences include evading police, burglary, stealing, minor drug selling, dangerous driving, possessing a shortened firearm, and possessing an unregistered gun.
His lawyer Caroline Graves asked for Mr Read’s case to adjourn without plea.
Magistrate Chris Webster remanded him in custody, to reappear in court on April 14.
In a previous statement, Tasmania Police said that in February, officers responded to several reports of a white Toyota Corolla driving dangerously at New Norfolk.
The vehicle was spiked as it drive through Bridgewater, police said, with officers finding the car abandoned at Pontville cemetery a short time later.
Police said they found ammunition and a “relatively large quantity of drugs”, searching the area and apprehending the alleged driver.
Last month, Read was denied bail over the matter.
