A man who has denied threatening to murder two women at Risdon Vale has made an outburst before a Hobart court, declaring: “I want as much jail time as you can give me”.

Nathan Michael Green, 38, is believed to have been the first Tasmanian declared a “high risk offender” under legislation brought in by former Attorney-General Elise Archer in 2021.

Being deemed a “high risk offender” under the laws gives the state and Tasmania Police much more power to monitor a person after their release from prison.

On Wednesday, Green pleaded guilty in the Hobart Magistrates Court to breaching conditions of his high risk offender order, including one occasion by encouraging Risdon Vale-based Pastor Norm Reed to enter his Glenorchy property earlier this year.

But also pleaded not guilty to two charges of written threat to murder at Risdon Vale, dating back to June 16 and November 21, 2023.

Green, appearing via video link before Magistrate Chris Webster, was asked by court staff – according to routine court procedure – if he was Nathan Michael Green.

“Of course the f… I am,” he said.

After pleading not guilty to the two counts of written threat to murder, he then pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching his high risk offender order, two counts of breaching bail conditions, and one count of contravening conditions of a notice.

Green told Mr Webster that when he was previously released from prison, “I didn’t like it”.

“I want as much jail time as you can give me, I don’t give a f… mate,” he said.

Mr Webster remanded Green in custody, to appear back in the Magistrates Court on July 8 over the breaches.

Green - who is currently representing himself - will appear in the Supreme Court of Tasmania on August 6.

“If you want to get a lawyer, I suggest you get one,” Mr Webster said.

According to court documents, Green breached bail and his high risk offender order on April 29 this year, when he encouraged Pastor Reed to enter his home at Pitcairn Street, Glenorchy, without approval.

He then breached his order, his bail conditions and the conditions of a notice the following day, by leaving the property without approval of his probation officer, police officer, or another designated person.
