A GOLD Coast woman has pleaded guilty to major drug trafficking of methylamphetamine, cocaine and ketamine into Tasmania.

Jacqueline Pauline Fiala, 50, appeared in the Supreme Court of Tasmania on Friday, entering pleas of guilty to two counts of drug trafficking – one between November 2019 and May 2021, and the other dating back to December 2021.

Previously, the Hobart Magistrates Court had heard the case could be the “largest drug trafficking matter in the history of Tasmania” and that it was “not an ordinary matter”.

On Friday, Fiala’s defence barrister Greg Barns SC appeared by phone, telling Justice Stephen Estcourt some summary matters were “still the subject of negotiation”.

Fiala, who hails from Broadbeach Waters in Queensland, was remanded in custody.

The facts of the case will be read to the court on Fiala’s next court appearance date in late March.
