Former reality TV star Jayden Appleby remanded over 15 charges

A Tasmanian singer who competed on Australia’s Got Talent five years ago appeared before a Hobart Court on Monday facing multiple charges.

A singer and former star of an Australian reality TV talent show facing 15 charges has had his case adjourned at the Hobart Magistrates Court.

Jayden Eric Appleby, 22, appeared briefly before Magistrate Chris Webster on Tuesday, June 11 from police custody, in relation to alleged offences spanning from 2021 to this year.

These charges include five counts of common assault, two counts of breaching a police family violence order and three counts of breach of bail.

Mr Appleby rose to fame on the 2019 season of Australia’s Got Talent, where he received a standing ovation from the audience and four “yeses” from the show’s judges for his audition performance of song “All I Want” by Kodaline.

According to court documents, Mr Appleby is accused of “striking” a female to the face in Hobart in 2023 and hitting another female in the face at Glebe Hill on November 17, 2023.

Mr Appleby was charged with one count of disorderly conduct after police allege he was found pacing aggressively at a Kingston Beach property on November 11 last year, before “waving his arms in the air, yelling and swearing and hitting himself in the head with a rock”.

Mr Appleby’s lawyer filed for an adjournment on the charges due to an outstanding medical report.

Magistrate Webster remanded Mr Appleby to appear on July 8.
