A former Tasmania Police senior constable has faced court charged with leaking information from the force, fraud and possessing cocaine.

A FORMER Tasmania Police senior constable has briefly faced court charged with leaking information from the force, fraud and possessing cocaine.

Sandra Anthea Audrey Paul, 43, appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Friday charged with perverting justice, unauthorised access to a computer, possessing a controlled drug and fraud.

According to court documents, it has been alleged that in June last year, Ms Paul perverted justice by providing confidential information from the Tasmania Police Offence Reporting System to another person, in respect of an alleged aggravated burglary that occurred in West Hobart in 2021.

It was alleged Ms Paul revealed a witness or witnesses had spoken to police and identified the persons responsible.

The court documents also state Ms Paul has been charged with unauthorised access to a computer at Bellerive in June 2021, possessing cocaine at Austins Ferry in November 2021, and one count of fraud committed in Hobart during March 2022.

Tasmania Police previously said the offences were allegedly committed while Ms Paul was a constable, but that she was off-duty at the time.

A spokesperson said Ms Paul’s employment was terminated in August 2022.

“It is not appropriate to make any further comment given the matters are now before the court,” the police spokesperson said.

On Friday, Ms Paul – who is on bail – applied for her first adjournment without plea to the charges.

She will reappear in court on May 11.
