The occupants of a home burnt to the ground are safe and sound after firefighters were unable to extinguish the blaze before the destruction.
Firefighters were called out in the early hours of Tuesday morning to a house fire on Hobart’s Eastern Shore.
Crews from Clarence and Hobart responded to reports of a blaze at Kent St, Lindisfarne at 2.30am.
Police and fire personnel spent the morning at the scene investigating the blaze.
On Tuesday afternoon, a TFS spokesperson said investigations suggested the fire had been accidentally lit.
They said the property had been handed back to the owners.
The blaze left in its wake two destroyed structures, one the home and the other a shed on the same property, and additionally burnt out a car.
The estimated damage caused by the fire is $600,000.
