A disputed facts hearing may soon be held after a New South Wales jeweller pleaded guilty over a major Tasmanian drug trafficking racket.
Jean Michele Christophe Wimmer, 39, has pleaded guilty to trafficking in a controlled substance between May 2019 and May 2021.
At the time of his arrest, NSW Police claimed Wimmer had been running a drug trafficking syndicate – worth nearly $5 million – from his western Sydney home.
Police said as part of a seven-month investigation, they seized three Ferraris, a Lamborghini, a gold-plated Harley-Davidson, and cash.
While Wimmer has pleaded guilty, he has contested the particulars of the case.
On Wednesday, he appeared in the Supreme Court of Tasmania via video link.
Acting Justice David Porter heard a disputed facts hearing would soon be held, or the contested particulars would be resolved.
Wimmer, who is in custody, will return to court on April 22.
