A young Tasmanian man who assaulted a woman, including by biting her face, and trashed another’s home in separate incidents, both while “heavily intoxicated”, is facing additional alcohol-related charges.

Invermay man Brandon Daniel Chris Gallagher, 23, previously pleaded guilty in Launceston Magistrates Court in May to eight offences committed over two booze-fuelled occasions.

On December 18 last year at Kings Meadows, he bit a woman on the forehead in her own bed, causing “extensive” bleeding, before “attempting to strangle her”, the court previously heard.

In an unrelated incident on July 26 last year, Gallagher attended an address in West Ulverstone where he smashed a window and letterbox and refused to leave when asked by the occupants as they returned home, before threatening attending police officers.

The court was previously told Gallagher’s “aggressive” behaviour when “heavily intoxicated” as he was on both occasions was “significantly at odds” with who the defendant believed he was when sober.

In court on Thursday, Gallagher, who was to be sentenced on the eight charges, pleaded guilty to an additional, unrelated offence of disorderly conduct.

Court documents state this occurred on March 23 at Invermay Rd, Invermay.

Gallagher stood “in the roadway obstructing traffic,” the charge reads.

Defence lawyer Andrew Lonergan also told the court his client faced additional charges yet to come before the court.

Magistrate Ken Stanton characterised the additional charges as “more alcohol-related offending”.

Mr Stanton adjourned all charges to June 29 to consolidate the matters and admitted Gallagher to bail.
