Detective Senior Sergeant John Parker said the 25-year-old and 28-year-old then allegedly got out of their car, trespassed on the victim’s property and damaged a vehicle in his driveway.

“The victim confronted the offenders, who chased him back in to his driveway and struck him multiple times with what is believed to be a blockbuster and a baseball bat,” he said police would allege.

“The 57-year-old victim remains in the Launceston General Hospital after receiving a stab wound to his abdomen, cuts and lacerations to his head, and the loss of a number of teeth.”

Senior Sergeant Parker said investigations were continuing in relation to a third person who may have been involved.

The two alleged offenders, both of Youngtown, were arrested yesterday and were expected to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court last night charged with wounding, criminal damage and hooning offences.

The Holden Commodore allegedly used during the hooning was seized and impounded by police.
