LOCAL and international artists will be working at high intensity, giving prolific output and blowing minds over eight hours of the serious and hilarious at Mona Foma’s Faux Mo in January.
Set in the Launceston Worker’s club with a working class theme, the event will run all night from 9pm to 5am on Saturday, January 18 until Sunday, January 19.
MONA FOMA AIMS TO UNITE THE STATE
It will be inspired by Dolly Parton and her working class, sex-positive twang and feature Tasmanian divas and international star DJs hailing from as far and wide as Uganda and Portugal.
A Taylor Mac-style celebration of the Dollyverse will kick off the night at 9pm and punters will be able to ease into the morning with croissants and hot coffee from Launceston cafe and bakery, Bread and Butter.
The godfather of Lisbon’s ghetto sound, DJ Merfox, will play his twisted, soulful and African-influenced dance music.
Eartheater, from Queens, NYC, will blend classical compositions on harp and piano with anthemic electronica to create sacred club music from the future.
Uganda based DJ Kampire will be playing Afro-house, St Lucian soca, Congolese soukous, gqom, and more.
Jamaican DJ and producer, Tygapaw, is on a mission to destroy the mainstream white narrative of queerness through relentless club rhythms and intimate vocal samples.
Takiaya Reed and Sylvie Nehill (aka Divide and Dissolve) will unleash heavy, rattling music that smashes colonialism and destroys white supremacy.

Dolly-lover, diva and cabaret powerhouse, Simone Page-Jones will host a journey through the Dollyverse.
Other artists set to perform include Claire Anne Taylor, Kat Daddi, and Pussay Poppins, while David Henry Nobody Jr will bring his renegade New York video art to the party.
Mona Foma runs January 11-20.
