Motorcycle rider killed in crash between ute and motorcycle at Kelcey Tier Rd, Spreyton
UPDATED 11AM: A 24-year-old man has been killed in a crash between a motorcycle and a ute in Tasmania’s North.

UPDATED: A 24-year-old man has been killed in a two-vehicle crash at Spreyton.
In a statement, police said they attended the crash between a Mitsubishi ute and a Kawasaki motorcycle on Kelcey Tier Rd about 6.50am.
They said the Spreyton man, who was riding the motorcycle, was found dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 59-year-old man, was treated for minor injuries.
Police said speed was not a contributing factor to the crash. They said the family of the 24-year-old man had been notified.
Kelcey Tier Rd is now open to motorists

EARLIER:
A VEHICLE accident at Spreyton in the state’s north has closed Kelcey Tier Rd to motorists.
In a brief statement shortly after 7am, police said they were are on the scene, and advised travellers to use Sheffield Rd or Forth Rd as alternate routes until further notice.
Meanwhile, Victoria Valley Rd at the intersection of Bashan Rd in Tasmania’s Central Highlands is closed to all traffic other than four wheel drive vehicles due to a truck crash.
In a statement shortly before 7am, police said the road was expected to be closed “for the next few hours” while the truck was removed.
There were no injuries as a result of the truck crash.
