Dad films as reef shark launches out of water and bites son

Every parent’s worst nightmare became reality for a dad recently when a reef shark launched out of the water and nipped his son.

Insane moment shark lunges at kid

Insane footage has revealed the heart-stopping moment a shark launched itself at a little boy holding onto the side of a boat.

Australian dad, Radwan Alam, was filming after his son, Manni Alam, emerged from the ocean at Lady Musgrave Island in the Great Barrier Reef and flopped a fish he speared onto the vessel.

As Manni was telling his dad about his catch, a reef shark appeared suddenly from the water and took a nip at the boy’s chest.

The animal interrupted what had been the dad’s attempt to capture the pair’s day.

“Beautiful day on the water,” the dad was heard saying, before asking his son, “show me what you got”.

A split second after the boy placed the fish on the boat, the shark dived up as though it had been eyeing the fish off for itself.

Speaking with Today, Manni recalled feeling the shark have a nip of his chest.

“It just felt like a little bit, it hurt a little bit on the chest but that’s it,” he said.

The shark swam away after the encounter, with the dad saying similar interactions were more common that most would believe.

“Anyone that’s dived, knows that it’s a very common thing when you’re diving,” the dad told the program.

“Sharks are a very, very common occurrence.”

Manni said he was “going back in” the water despite his scary experience.

While the clip, shared on TikTok, ended immediately after the shark launched out of the water, the dad revealed to shocked viewers later on that his son had survived the ordeal.

Responding to comments asking if the boy was OK, the dad said, “yeah he’s fine, I will post the rest of the video soon it just took off was after the fish”.

Viewers couldn’t believe how casually the boy handled the situation.

“The kid just looks as if to say ‘you right there bro’,” one wrote in a comment to the video.

“That kid was not the least concerned. Cool as a cucumber,” another said.

Others were in sheer disbelief at what happened.

“Wow, looks the shark was going for the fish but he lifted it out of the water just before the shark got there,” one said.

Some questioned whether the clip was legitimate.

“Looks like the shark is dead and somebody is pushing it on top of the kid,” wrote one skeptic.

Someone else remarked that the encounter “looked personal”.

“Y’all they’re Australian he’s good,” someone else wrote.

“Lucky dad had that on film otherwise you’d never believe it,” another said.

A video posted on Monday showed the boy alive and well, showing off one of his catches.

Viewers were shocked at his dad posting a new video without addressing the shark attack.

“Bro almost got eaten by a shark and he’s holding a fish like nothing happened,” one responded.

“So … we’re just going to glaze over the shark bite?” another asked.

The dad promised he would soon deliver a video explaining what happened and the aftermath of the shark bite.
