A tablet or iPad used to be just a great option for work and play on the road.

But with new AI features powered by a pen, everything from your school assignments to creating new art for your business has got a whole lot easier.

Simple line drawings can be transformed into pretty amazing images in just seconds, while schoolwork, note-taking and even personal journaling becomes far more efficient with automated transcriptions and summaries.

When it comes to productivity, AI can be a real game-changer with small business operators, for example, slashing the time it takes to do basic marketing or social media tasks.

We’ve been testing the latest Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ over the holidays using it for everything from big screen gaming to watching cricket after losing the battle for the big screen TV with the wife.

The viewing screen is superb, the gameplay graphics as fast as you are likely to need, while even the on-board sound is surprisingly good.

Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S10+ are Samsung’s first tablets purposefully built for AI.

The premium hardware includes 14.6-inch and 12.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, with the S Pen bundled with both models.

Performance upgrades for the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra include an 18% increase in CPU, 28% increase in GPU (graphics), and 14% increase in the NPU for machine learning compared to the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S9+ models.

The AI features include Note Assist which offers transcriptions and summaries provided, as well as PDF Overlay Translation, which can translate PDFS via an on-screen overlay.

Given it was the holidays, I was more interested in gameplay and creativity than work so found most of my time having a play with Sketch to Image.

If you have seen my artistic attempts, you’ll understand why I find this AI so fascinating, and addictive.

Drawing the simple shape of glasses can create a piece of art that you would be happy to use on social media, a website or even for a book illustration.

Even a simple drawing of some glasses with the S Pen on the Galaxy Tab S10+ can create some pretty cool looking art.

While there are image generators available online where you can just type what you want, the act of drawing something feels like it is more your own.

Funnily enough, but not surprising for me, the less you draw sometimes means the better the result.

I squiggled the shape of a bird in flight and it rendered a pretty realistic looking seagull. Draw a sun, the lines of ocean waves or a mountain scene and you are quickly presented with numerous options.

Other AI features can be quickly activated simply by lifting the S Pen off its magnetic charging holder to activate ‘Air Command with AI’, without having to switch between menus.

You can also launch the AI apps via the Galaxy AI Key on the Book Cover Keyboard, which is sold separately, though currently a bonus freebie.

Sketch to Image, which I’ve played with on the latest Samsung phones, is far more fun on a tablet using a pen.

You can also use Circle to Search with Google and translate images, video or text quickly.

Gaming is great on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ tablet with vivid displays, fast graphics and quad speakers for good sound.

If you are growing the number of AI devices in your home, like a smart TV, light bulbs, airconditioning and appliances, the Galaxy Tab S10+ is also a handy way to manage devices using its 3D Map View where you can control SmartThings-enable products.

The tablet also provides access to leading third-party apps including Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Noteshelf3, Clip Studio Paint, PicsArt and Sketchbook.

The Galaxy Tab S10+ feels really solid while the 12.4-inch display offers a vibrant viewing experience, even outdoors, thanks to an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare.

In the sound department, a quad speaker setup is enhanced with Dialogue Boost, which amplifies voices over unwanted noise.
