Redditt user shares photo claiming to be iPhone 7 Plus which caught fire in transit

AS Samsung deals with the fallout of the exploding Note 7, a social media user has shared photos apparently showing an iPhone 7 that had caught fire.

FIRST it was Samsung with the exploding phone. Now there is a report that an iPhone 7 Plus has burst into flames.

The unverified report comes from Reddit user “kroopthesnoop” who claims an iPhone 7 Plus burst into flames during transit.

The person who is in America claims the photos show the condition of the iPhone 7 Plus which was ordered online by a co-worker. In the Reddit post, he claims Apple have organised for the co-worker to get a new phone.

Last month Sydney cyclist Gareth Clear suffered severe burns when he fell on his iPhone 6 in a cycling accident and the battery exploded.

The photo of the damaged iPhone 7 Plus released on Redditt appears to show damage to the box which could indicate an impact was involved.

Apple declined to comment on the issue.

Samsung issued a worldwide recall of the Note 7 nearly a month ago after more than 35 reports worldwide of phones catching fire during charging.
