Other terrified teens watched on and attempted to intervene, with the allged assailant kicking the allged victim in the back and stomach and then punching her repeatedly as she attempted to shield herself from the blows, according to police.

“She approached the (allged) victim and, unprovoked, threw her to the ground,” a police spokesperson said of police’s allegations.

“It will be further alleged the accused proceeded to punch and kick the victim in the head.”

Police confirmed they had charged the 14-year-old following the alleged “serious assault”, while it is believed both girls were known to each other.

Inspector Geoff Desanges said the video was “horrible to watch”.

“It’s confronting,” he said.

“This type of violence is unacceptable and inexcusable in our society.

“Through our additional resources deployed to the region … we were able to bring this matter to a very swift conclusion.”

The alleged victim was taken to Broome Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, while the accused has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The 14-year-old is expected to appear in the Broome Children’s Court on June 9, 2023.
