An Australian high school has been renamed on Google by a cheeky tech-savvy hacker to the Bob Hawk Tuah College, leaving its administrators at odds with the tech giant.

The school named after former Australian prime minister Bob Hawke is located in Subiaco, one of Perth’s more prestigious areas about 4km from the city.

Google had been advised of the incident but had not taken any steps to change the school’s name back to Bob Hawke College, Seven West reported.

The school opened in 2020 not far from where Mr Hawke grew up in his family home in West Leederville. He completed his education at Perth Modern School and the University of Western Australia.

The school was opened in 2020 and named after former primer minister Bob Hawke.

The term “hawk tuah” was made famous by an internet meme earlier this year when an American girl Haliey Welch was interviewed in a YouTube clip that went viral.

Ms Welch was stopped by Tim & Dee TV on the streets of Nashville, Tennessee and was asked X-rated questions, in which she replied, “You gotta give ‘em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang.”

The catchphrase went viral.

The school and Google have been contacted for comment.
