Mr Beast DMs Sydney composer for Beast Games soundtrack role
A single Instagram message from the world’s biggest YouTuber has transformed a young Sydney 22yo’s life overnight.
Mr Beast, the most influential YouTuber in the world, has handed the musical fate of his record-setting reality competition series to a 22-year-old from Sydney.
Bailey Pickles, from Camden, in Sydney’s southwest, is a composer and pianist. Playing the piano since he was four years old, he has dreams of composing soundtracks for large events and film.
At 20, he was asked to compose music for the Vivid Sydney show.
Now aged 22, he is composing the entire soundtrack for the massive new season of Beast Games on Amazon Prime Video.
Mr Pickles revealed his excitement in a video, saying that the team’s request for him to compose music for the Beast Games is “pretty crazy, pretty nuts”.
He told news.com.au he is “super stoked” and “just blown away” by the opportunity.
The game features a thousand contestants competing in a large-scale, rigorous, strategy-based challenge, hosted by Jimmy Dolandson, better known as Mr Beast.
In season one, contestants were playing for either a share of the US$25 million (AU$37.6 million) game pool or the US$10 million (AU$15 million) grand prize.
Mr Pickles has just finished the soundtrack and said it “doesn’t really feel like work”.
“The whole time I’m going ‘this is crazy’ you know ‘how the hell did this happen’ so I’m lucky,” he said.
Mr Pickles just finished his studies at the University of Sydney, studying composition for creative industries at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
With help from his mum, he has now gathered over 1.3 million TikTok followers. He posted about his superhuman ability to “hear the song for the first time and then play their song on the spot”.
Amazed by his music superpower, the executive producer of the Beast Games show contacted Mr Pickles through Instagram.
Mr Pickles said there is stress in composing a piece under pressure.
“For Beast games they need it much quicker,” he said. “You get one shot pretty much … but all I have to do is just the best I can. Then that’s all that really matters.”
Beast Games premieres on January 7, 2026, on Amazon Prime Video with three episodes, then with weekly releases following through to February.
