Facebook fans are being “driven mad” by a mysterious noise that randomly pings in the app.
Users have complained about a “chirping” sound playing whenever they scroll through the social network on an iPhone.
“The latest Facebook app for the iPhone makes a noise when you scroll,” one person wrote.
“It’s driving me nuts.”
“That noise Facebook is making while I scroll is the quickest way to get me to exit that app,” another fumed, The Sun reported.
“Just turn off the chirping noise when I use iPhone,” a third added.
“It’s making my brain hurt. It’s already annoying with all the ads.”
Facebook has admitted that the sound is a “technical error”.
Andy Stone, Meta’s Communications Director, revealed users were not to blame for the noise, instead linking it to a technical mishap.
“Hearing a chirping noise while scrolling through your Facebook Feed on your iPhone?” he asked.
“It’s not you, it’s us! And it’s an unfortunate technical error that we’re in the process of fixing.”
Still, many were left wondering, “why Facebook been making that extra noise”.
Facebook is still working on a proper fix for the chirping sound in its iPhone app.
Users can follow these steps to switch it off manually until the app fixes the issue:
-Open the Facebook app and tap the Menu button in the bottom right
– Scroll down and select Settings & Privacy
– Then tap Settings
– Scroll down to Media
– Turn the In-app sound toggle off
