Aussie YouTuber Lannan Eacott, aka LazarBeam, in most watched YouTube video
An Australian is the star of a record-breaking YouTube video, but he isn’t happy one awkward moment made the cut.
Australian YouTuber Lannan Eacott, better known as LazarBeam, is the star of the most viewed video in 24 hours on the video platform’s history, but the Aussie creator isn’t happy.
Uploaded on Sunday, the video titled ‘7 Days Stranded At Sea’ shows Eacott and the MrBeast’s (Jimmy Donaldson) crew subject to just that.
In just three days, the 18-minute-long video has racked up over 83 million views at the time of publication and, in its first 24 hours, was the most watched video in YouTube history in that time frame.
The challenge shows Eacot as a guest as Donaldson and affiliates Kris Tyson, Nolan Hansen and Tareq Salameh “stranded” together on a wooden raft in the middle of the ocean.
The group is supplied with basic survival and shelter equipment and food and water rations.
Over the seven days, the group is filmed dealing with storms, blistering sun, contaminated water, and a perilous lack of facilities.
The latter caught the ire of Eacot, who took to social media after the video was published.
Donaldson, the world’s most watched creator whose videos centre on expensive stunts and challenges, said during this video was “the hardest challenge we’ve done.”
“The more I suffer, the more you watch. I hope you’re happy, I’m suffering again,” he said.
Instead of relishing in the views, and the achievement of surviving a week at sea, Eacott took to social media to point out one less than ideal detail.
“So the most viewed video in YouTube history features me s**ting in a bucket. Thanks Mr Beast – next time I am blocking your phone calls,” he said.
The video appears to quash any perceived beef that surfaced between the Australian creator and MrBeast earlier this year when fellow YouTubers Logan Paul and Eacott accusedDonaldson of poaching their employees.
On an episode of Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast in February, Eacott discussed difficulties in recruiting trustworthy individuals to aid him with content editing, adding one of his cherished staff members was poached by Donaldson.
This caused Paul to reveal he too lost his chief editor to Donaldson.
Eacott, 28, in his own right, has made significant waves in the highly lucrative world of online content creation – so much so that his net worth is estimated to be as high as AU$50 million.
Eacott, originally from Central Coast NSW, built his online profile playing video games on streams, including Grand Theft Auto V, NBA 2K, and EA SPORTS UFC.
However, he shot to fame when he started playing the game Fortnite in 2018.
By 2019, he hit 10 million subscribers and on YouTube, he was the third most recognised creator associated with Fortnite.
In a monumental win, Epic Games, who created Fortnite, gave him his own character skin in March 2021, as a recognition of his association to the game.
He is also known for his reaction videos, featuring titles such as TikToks Which Make You LOL and YouTube’s Most Viewed Videos.
In December 2020, at just 25, Eacott spent $9.9 million on a luxurious, three-level oceanfront home in Clovelly in Eastern Sydney – breaking the house price record for the oceanside locality.
