SCORES of iPhone users took the plunge last night and updated to Apple’s new software, iOS10.
But people weren’t totally persuaded by the iPhone’s new look — not to mention its new features.
The update waves goodbye to slide-to-unlock, and introduces some big changes to Messages — including brand new emojis — as well as the ability to delete unwanted default apps.
And Twitter users were quick to share their reactions to Apple’s latest offering.
Everyone was particularly upset about the gun emoji — which has been replaced with a considerably-less-aggressive water pistol.

And that wasn’t the only emoji causing problems — as people quickly mocked new, more attractive emoji revamps, and berated the new ‘emoji replacement’ feature, which allows you to replace words with relevant characters.

Meanwhile, users were also left struggling with the new unlocking mechanism, which sees the classic ‘slide to unlock’ replaced by pressing the home button.
However, it’s been revealed this can be turned off in the accessibility settings, allowing users to use TouchID as they would have done with previous software.

But it’s not all bad news for Apple, as people seem ecstatic to finally be able to delete the iPhone’s default apps, including the Stocks app, which has been a particular nuisance.

iPhone users were also surprised to discover the new ‘bedtime’ feature, which reminds users when to go to bed and keeps track of their sleeping habits.
Overall, iOS10’s reception has been mixed at best — but once people come to terms with the loss of the gun emoji, everyone will no doubt begin to wonder how we ever lived without it.
