IF you haven’t been able to look at an egg plant in the same way thanks to the sexually suggestive emoji, you might want to look away now.
Apple this week released more than 100 new and redesigned emoji that will be released as part of its iOS10 update.
While the initial focus was on the greater gender representation and the switch from a real gun to a water pistol, the discussion has now turn to other things.

Does a seemingly innocent emoji people use every day to show awe and respect actually suggest a sexual act?
Jeremy Burge, founder of the Emojipedia website and a leading authority on emoji use, discovered the hidden meaning some people see in one of the new emojis when people kept pointing it out on Twitter.
People are giving these new bowing emojis sexual connotations, and now I canât unsee. Theyâre fine thoughâ¦right? pic.twitter.com/6HShfs6o3h

According to the Unicode description of the figure, it’s a person bowing deeply, known as dogeza in Japan, and is used to express a sincere apology or request a large favour.
Used in context, it’s totally appropriate. But if a picture can say 1000 words, to some people this picture is saying something else.
To describe it in polite terms, to many people commenting to Emojipedia today, the illustration suggests an oral act.
Meaning, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder and to some people with an eye for these things the meaning of this emoji is something else.
Agree with them or not, you might want to think twice before sending the bowing emoji. And if you do use it, best not to follow up with an egg plant.
