He’s just 12 years old, he drives the ball 260m and has shot his first sub-par round. Is this Tassie’s next golfing superstar?

He might only be 12 years old, but Taroona schoolboy Wolfe Case-Boag literally has the drive to land himself on the international pro-golf circuit, just like his hero Rory McIlroy.
Like the Irish champion player, Wolfe can smack the ball further down the fairway than some of the much older golfers he faces in Kingston Beach Golf Club’s weekly Sunday competition.
Wolfe already has a hole-in-one to his name, having found the cup off the tee of a 150m par three at Kingston Beach in November.
On Sunday, he carded a one-under-par round of 70 at Kingston Beach – his first sub-par round. It is a remarkable feat for a kid who only started golf two years ago at the encouragement of his grandfather and initially teed off using his dad’s clubs.
Now with his own set, Wolfe also plays soccer for his school but golf is where his heart lies.
“I definitely like golf the best – it’s more fun,” he said.
“I liked it pretty much straight away. I like hitting good shots.
“My favourite shot is the drive, because that’s what I hit the best — I can drive it about 250m or 260m.”
Just like his drives, Wolfe hopes he can go a long way in golf.
“I’d like to be a professional player,” he said.
“I like the way Rory McIlroy plays, because he’s a good driver.”
Apart from putting his club mates to the sword, Wolfe’s next big challenge will be playing at the 2025 Jack Newton International Junior Classic in NSW in October.
