Another local Tasmanian football club has made the decision to go into recess with the West Ulverstone Football Club set to sit out season 2024.

The North West Football League club took to social media on Monday night to announce they had made the call which comes after a crisis meeting on January 30.

“Due to player numbers the club has decided to go into recess for the 2024 football season,” the statement read.

“It’s certainly not easy to write this or to actually make this decision as a club.”

“I’d like to take the time to say thank you to our life members our loyal players, families, supporters & committee for all the hard work you have put in and committed to this great club.

“It’s been a tough few years both on (and) off field for us all.

“What I must say is how proud I am to be a part of this great club & all the people involved here that sadly a lot of people don’t take the chance to see for themselves.”

The decision comes following a lack of both player numbers and off-field support with the NWFA club going through a tough period in recent years.

The Lions senior side finished 2023 with a 0-16 record and their reserves side finishing second-last with a 2-13 season.
