Wakehurst Rugby Club match milestone for northern beaches youngster Belle Curry
She’s not even a teenager yet but this young footy player is already a sporting pioneer after cracking an impressive milestone.

Even before she turned 11 Belle Curry’s name has gone on a special board at a sporting club in Sydney.
The youngster from Frenchs Forest claimed a small piece of sporting his history when she became the first girl to play 100 games at Wakehurst Rugby Club.
The milestone saw her presented with a special jumper by Super W player Sabine Blakeman and her name put up on an honour board at the club.
“I was just interested in playing because it was a fun thing to do,’’ said Belle of her budding rugby career.
“I like to run and play in a team and be with my friends.
“It was just a lot of fun when we got to play. We missed games because of Covid.’’
Belle said she plans of staying with rugby in the future.
“I think I'll play. I like the contact. I like wrestling my brothers,’’ she said.
“They play rugby as well. Sometimes they give me some tips.’’
Belle’s club is keen to attract more girls to the club to minis team and more to be involved in the sport.
Rugby is a growing sport for women with the World Cup on in New Zealand later this year for the 15s game and an explosion of interest in Sevens rugby due to it now being on the Olympic program.
