Under 17 champs: How Tassie’s squad shapes up before home campaign
Tasmania’s under-17 boys cricketers will look to use the comforts of home when the national championship take place in the state’s north from Thursday. Check out the stats for every player in the squad so far this summer.

Tasmania will look to capitalise on home ground advantage when the national under-17 male cricket championships are held in the north of the state from Thursday.

Player statistics are via Play Cricket, and include every grade each player has featured in this summer.
AIDAN BULGER (Kingborough)
Runs: 317 @ 17.61
Wickets: Two @ 61
Top order batter Bulger has played a number of senior second and third grade games this season and has a top score of 61 against Glenorchy.
BAILEY SHEAD (Clarence)
Runs: 181 @ 22.63
Wickets: 35 @ 15.63
The opening bowler and handy lower middle order batter has been strong with both bat and ball this season. He has also played about half a dozen first grade games, taking four wickets, and is averaging 15.63 with the ball and 22.63 with the bat across all grades.
CHARLES HILL (University)
Runs: 496 @ 35.43
Wickets: 10 @ 14.8
The University gun has also played a handful of first grade games this summer and bats in the top order for the under-18s.
He also opens the bowling and has been a standout with both bat and ball.
ETHAN ARNOTT (South Launceston)
Runs: 230 @ 13.53
Wickets: N/A
Arnott has spent the entire season in South Launceston’s first grade team and is getting experience at the higher level through their middle order. Has a top score of 28 in the top division.
GABE TICHANOW (New Town)
Runs: 194 @ 14.92
Wickets: 2 @ 26
Tichanow has alternated between the Bucks’ 18s, seconds and firsts this season. Has a top score of 66 in the opening 18s match of the campaign against Kingborough.
HAYDEN CLARK-SULLIVAN (Clarence)
Runs: 206 @ 20.6
Wickets: 51 @ 13.82
Clark-Sullivan also represented Tasmania at the recent Australian Country Cricket Championships. One of the state’s most promising young all rounders.
JACK CRANE (GN Raiders/South Launceston)
Runs: 119 @ 9.15
Wickets: 22 @ 35.5
The aggressive spinner has played two CTPL games for Greater Northern Raiders this year.
JERICOH DICKINS (University)
Runs: 260 @ 21.67
Wicket: 20 @ 22.9
Another squad member who has had an impact with bat and ball this year. He made a patient 38 in first grade against Clarence earlier this season and normally bats in the middle order.
LACHIE COE (Kingborough)
Runs: 16 @ 8.00
Wickets: 14 @ 22.07
The opening bowler has taken 14 wickets across 18s, second and third grade this year.
MASON WRIGHT (University)
Runs: 123 @ 8.79
Wickets: Nine @ 38.67
Wright also represented Tasmania at this year’s under-19 national championships. Has best bowling of 3-5 and a high score of 34 this season.
LUCA DI VENUTO (Clarence)
Runs: 549 @ 24.95
Wickets: One @ 35
Another under-19 national championships representative, the son of Tasmanian legend Michael has spent plenty of time in first grade this season. Also played in last year’s under-17 nationals and will be a key player at the top of the order.
RILEY WHITELAW (Clarence)
Runs: 685 @ 38.06
Wickets: Two @ 1.00
Represented Tasmania at the Australian Country Cricket Championships. Has had a solid season with the bat, including 113 against University in 18s and 133 against Lindisfarne in second grade.
RUSSI STURZAKER (GN Raiders/Burnie
Runs: 27 @ 3.86
Wickets: 13 @ 25.62
The up-and-coming bowler has played two CTPL matches for the Raiders this year and will fly the flag for the north-west at the tournament.
Will play at his home region when Tasmania take on NSW Country in Devonport.
TARKYN JONES (Glenorchy)
Runs: 688 @ 98.29
Wickets: 10 @ 23.9
Has had a superb season including two centuries, an 89 and a 90 in his scores thus far. Has only failed to make double figures once.
