Two TSL premiership players, and state representatives, will not be a part of their respective premier leagues next season following the recent confirmation of their interstate departures.
Reigning Hudson Medallist Harvey Griffiths won’t be back at North Launceston after joining SANFL club West Adelaide, while Kingborough and Glenorchy premiership midfielder James Webb has signed with QAFL club Aspley.
Webb joins a long list of Tasmanians at the Hornets, including Brandon Batchelor and Ryan Banks-Smith, while he will also link back up with Glenorchy premiership teammates in Jordon Arnold and Jordan Hayden.
While the Tigers have been able to retain the bulk of their list for their entry into the SFL Premier League, their midfield depth has taken a hit with Webb, Jack Tomkinson, Lochie Griggs and Zach Adams all departing over the off-season.
Both Tomkinson and Adams have joined SANFL club Central Districts while Griggs has made the move to reigning SFL premier Cygnet in the community league for next season.
Griffith’s decision to join West Adelaide also leaves a major hole in North Launceston’s line-up following his 55-goal season in 2024.
“I’m stoked to be joining the West Adelaide Football Club and getting the opportunity to play in the best state league competition in Australia,” Griffiths said in a statement.
Meanwhile, recently delisted Tasmanian Tom McCallum has elected against a return home to Hobart following his delisting from Port Adelaide.
The 20 year-old key defender has joined Norwood, adding to the Redlegs strong Tasmanian connection at the SANFL outfit.
“I have a couple of mates that already play at Norwood in George McLeod and Dom White, and I know about the club’s rich history,” McCallum said in a club statement.
One Tasmanian who may not link up with McCallum at Norwood is North Launceston’s Baynen Lowe.
Lowe was recently announced as a trial player for a SSP spot with Fremantle following a stellar 2024 campaign with former coach Jade Rawlings now at the Dockers as a backline coach.
